At it’s most elemental level, money is the basis of a bartering system.
The tool has changed over time. Our ancestors used to trade cattle, cowrie shells and weight in coin, yet the concept of money has always been the same: swap something we have for another thing we need.
But…it’s always been a little more complicated than that, hasn’t it?
